Harakeke Flowers

We have been learning about harakeke (flax) and today we made harakeke flowers by folding the harakeke over itself.
We made sure that when we harvested the harakeke from the plant  we didn't cut the centre leaf ( rito or the baby), the leaves around it that are the awhi rito (or the parents - awhi means to embrace) or the outside leaves which are the tupuna (grandparents).  We cut the tupuna  leaves.
